I was interested in looking at how Carleton has evolved in terms of its ability to draw students from outside Minnesota and the Midwest. I think that the size and diversity of a school’s draw region speaks to the influence, reputation, and goals of the school. I also think that the change over time in enrollment of international students is somewhat indicative of what kind of place the school is and what it wants to be. With that in mind, I hope that the project will visually indicate a positive trend towards more geographic diversity and tell a story of a rise in inclusivity, profile, and diversity of background (if not explicitly racial or socioeconomic) over the last 60 years.
